Robert C. Simms, Jr. CHARLESTON - Entered into eternal rest on the morning of July 16, 2009, Robert Charles Simms, Jr. Residence, Charleston, SC. All services will be private. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Sunday, July 19, 2009, between four and six o'clock. Mr. Simms was born December 24, 1942 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the son of Robert Charles Simms, Sr. and Margretta D. Simms. He was a graduate of James Island High School in 1959 and attended Chowan Junior College on a football scholarship. He was a former semi-professional football player and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as an independent newspaper carrier for The Post & Courier for over 25 years. He is survived by a daughter, Sherrie Shapiro of Alpharetta, GA and two granddaughters, Victoria Shelby Shapiro and Cameron Olivia Shapiro, both of Alpharetta, GA. Condolences to Bobby's family and friends. I remember him well from high school. James Island High was a new school which had a small number of students. It was so easy to get to know each other. Bobby will be remembered as a friend and classmate.
