RIP my friend. Very belated condolences to his family and his friends. So sorry to hear not only of his his passing, but how horribly it occurred. :( I learned a ton from him about how to properly t'shoot and maintain the systems. I really enjoyed our conversations over drinks and dinner(s) after all those many long days at Lajes, Augsburg & DG. Thank you Skiff for keeping this page up and available.

I first met Steve in ET school, Then we went to Pensacola. Next was Guam. He went Edsel, and I went further west for next few years. We did a lot of things together, but I lost track of him, he was a good friend. Gary Peters

Debbie,
I am still coming to grips with the loss of Steve. On more than one occasion recently I received an email related to the work I did with Steve in the past, and immediately he would pop onto my mind, and I think to myself he would know the answer off the top of his head. A second after thinking of him the shock of his loss overtakes me and sadness sets in. I get over this by thinking of one of the funny things Steve said or did that made me laugh so many times during our time together. Even when things were not going smoothly Steve would make a joke and we'd plow ahead and eventually get past our problem and celebrate later over a beer or two. Geez I really miss that geezer. If there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to ask. Regards, George

We are very, very sorry about Steve's passing. Even though we only new him a short time, his infectious personality was impossible to ignore. I'll never forget some of his real-life stories and how humorous and intelligent he was. I do know that he loved you dearly and it showed. The world lost a valuable individual, while heaven gained a glowing angel of immense notoriety.

Dear Debbie, Jason and Sophia
My memories go back a long way, even before Jason was born...Horseback riding together...Little sister lying at baby Jason's door, washing his face when he lay on the couch.
Visiting at the house next to the post office - Steve tinkering with the Mercedes with classical music playing...
So many more, All good ones. A special man, a special family.

Debbie,
My condolences for your loss. I just found out about Steve's passing from John Butterfield. I knew Steve from my days in the navy and had a deep respect for him and his work ethic (Edzell, San Vito, Winter Harbor). We had some great times. I leave this with prayers and thoughts for you and those he had to leave behind. David Jones, USNR CTMCM

Love You Forever
I send you butterfly kisses
You don't always know that I'm there
but its me peeking around the corner
or touching a strand of your hair.
I see you on days you're crying
or wishing we could talk once in a while.
Even though I'm now in heaven
I still want to see you smile.
I visit at night when you're sleeping.
I come quietly into your dreams and
Whisper words ever so softly
To say death is not what it seems.
I see you sometimes at the table
when you don't know that I am there.
As you gaze over at my picture
I hope you know how much I care.
I'm sending a hug from heaven.
I wish you could feel it today.
The Lover that we share is forever.
Time and space can't take it away.
Forever in my Heart

Before you had your accident I made you a promise!
I gave you every chance to recover but it wasn't meant to be.
So as hard as it was I kept my promise to you.
Before you left us I made one more promise and I will keep it no matter how difficult.
I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!!!

I Love and Miss you
They say memories are golden well maybe that is true;
I never wanted memories I only wanted you;
A million times I needed you, a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I Love You Still!
In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill.

The day you left
With tears we saw you suffer, As we watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, as you fought so hard to stay.
We knew you had go leave us, but you never went alone, For part of us went with you
The day you left for home

I love the smell of rain and fresh cut grass. I love the green of your eyes and the coolness of your kisses. I love bright colors and the singing of birds. I love it when you wink at me from a distance. I love beautiful little trees and magnificent large ones. I love slow moving little streams and fast running brooks. I love your smile and your shrimpy noises. I love snowcapped mountains and snow covered ground. I love go put my cold feet on your nice warm back. I love beautiful green meadows and yellowed flowered hillsides. And I love you very much. DP

Steve was a wonderful man and I'm glad to have had the privilege of working with him. He warmly welcomed me to the team and was an avid teacher and mentor. It was obvious to me that Steve enjoyed his work and was proud of his seasoned career. However, he would light up talking about his family. He loved you all so much. Jason, he was so very proud of you and glad that you found Sophia. He loved visiting with you in Germany and talked about those trips frequently.
