I don't know how many people in my generation can honestly say that their personalities, values, ethics, and lives were shaped and built in a large part by what their very special one of a kind grandparents gave us and our parents. Grampa and Grama have been extra parents to me in everything, from Cheerios, raspberries, homemade soda and parties in the pool when we were crazy kids, to having our family living in the upstairs apartment for a year as we built a house, to honest advice every single time I really needed it my whole life and a zillion other things. Teaching all of us that real respect for our elders is deserved completely.

Grampa was to me the one who showed tough, enduring, honest and resourceful on the outside, but loving, humorous and caring on the inside. His stories were wonderful and taught me about work ethic, appreciating what you have, and choosing to live your life the way you will be happy when it's done. He ALWAYS-without fail-had the "take it like a champ" attitude.
My daughter Ava was lucky enough to have time with Grampa as well, and hopefully through Grama, and all of our family, will have the benefit of looking back at a very amazing person and the great and small things that Grampa is and will always be in our lives.
I'll miss you so, so much. Crocodile Tears... :)

Dear Dad,
I know God loves me very much because he gave me the best parents anyone could ever have and I thank him for that every day.I can't think of any way I could ever repay you for all that you have shown, taught and given me.The love, the laughter and the "interstate lumber" still stamped on my behind. And of course I do have your good looks. Your sense of humor is like no other and there is nothing greater in life than to laugh and you have the market on that.I could go on forever but best not do so. You are at peace now and can do whatever you want. I know you have some kind of garage up there so tinker away.Mom will be fine and us kids will take good care of her because we have your strength.
I love you Dad and I can't wait until we meet again.
Jacque

So many memories of “my other Dad”…Days at Bald Eagle - rides on the lawn tractor, watching him restore the “Little Mo” in the yard, knowing I wasn’t supposed to look when he was welding but peeking anyway. After we moved “up on the hill” (as Bob always put it), the drive down to Bob’s just about every Saturday for help with whatever project Dad was trying to do. Watching Mom and Dad and Bob and Marg play pinochle and trying to figure out how it worked. Cruising on the river to the Coast Guard beach to swim and cook out. Backing into his truck after he offered to move it (on the top 5 of my “most embarrassing moments”, but he loved to tell the story with a loud laugh). In my adult years, Bob showed me to make silver jewelry, make sauerkraut, and even gave me his rototiller after he retired from gardening. Bob was a very gifted man, and as generous as anyone I’ve ever known. He is especially a model to me in this respect: he used the time given to him in this life to the utmost he could, and never stopped learning and trying new things as long as he was healthy enough to do so. I hope to follow his example. I loved Bob, and I love you, Marg. My thoughts are with you.

Lion Bob will be greatly missed by all of the members of the White Bear Lake Lions Club. He was always ready and willing to help out in whatever way he could. Lion Bob always lived up to our motto "We Serve" and served as a great role model for all of us.

Dear Dad, How blessed I am to have such a wonderful Dad. You taught me right from wrong and the virtues of honesty and respect. You showed me how to reach out to others, tell and good joke, take a little teasing and appreciate what we have been blessed with. You let me have an opinion even if we didn't agree. I am still working on not talking so much!!!
With great admiration I watched you build things, fix things, sew things, cook and can things, and enjoy the simple things in life.
We had many great times at the cabin, on the lake,on the river, and around the pool. I am so glad that you really know all of the answers now and that you are whole again and in loving arms of the Lord. His love and promise of paradise gives us much peace and comfort. So, thanks again for being a great dad and until we meet in paradise - tuskity ha!! I love you

Marg, I know in my heart that Liz will be the first to greet Mr. Bob as he enters Heaven. Mr. Bob was the greatest neighbor that one could have, a friend to all and story teller extraordinaire. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. God Bless

Aunt Marg. & Family,

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of Uncle Bob's beautiful smile, fun nature and of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.

We'll miss going across the street to visit, and having Bob watch the boys play in our yard..... but we are at peace knowing that he's breathing easy now!
