Robert P. Hagstrom
Fort Walton Beach - With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for life well lived, we remember and celebrate the life of our beloved father Robert P. Hagstrom, who passed away peacefully on December 08, 2025 at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Bob was born in Bronx, New York to Martha and Carl Hagstrom. His family relocated to the south where he spent his adolescent years and graduated from Summerville High School in 1953. A proud graduate of the Citadel Military College and a devoted veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob lived a life rooted in honor, discipline, and service. After his military service, he spent his remaining career working for the Department of Defense as a civil engineer and eventually retired with the G E Company. He remained in Fort Walton Beach to raise his family. He enjoyed boating, fishing, reading, golfing and sports, all while spending time with his family. He had a way of making ordinary moments meaningful. Whether through his laughter, his stories, his advice or simply the comfort of sitting beside him, he left an imprint on hearts that time can never erase. HE TRULY NEVER MET A STRANGER!!
Bob is survived by his daughter Susan (Jeff), son Kenneth (Diana), grandsons Kevin and Aaron, great-grandchildren Xavier, Kallie, Kyren. Also his sister Judy (Nolan) Schwerin, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years Patricia Baird Hagstrom, sister Patricia Hagstrom Whitney and her husband James R. Whitney (IBM Jim).
Family and friends are invited to meet on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 10am at the Daniel Library located on the campus of the Citadel with his inurnment immediately following in the Memorial Tower Columbarium.
A mass with special intention will be held at a later date in FWB, Florida.
"Breakaway, breakaway, breakaway Bob." Though he has landed for the last time, his spirit will forever fuel our memories.
