Robert Ott Obituary

Robert Eugene Ott FLORENCE, SC - Rev. Robert Eugene Ott, 40, of Florence, SC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, July 14, 2017, at 6:28 a.m. at the McLeod Hospice House. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith after a five-year journey with colon cancer. He entered into his eternal reward surrounded by family. Robby was born April 3, 1977, in North Charleston, SC. He was a graduate of Goose Creek High School, where he was a drum major, and developed a passion for the tuba. He graduated from Charleston Southern University with a degree in Youth Ministry. During college, he surrendered his life to full-time ministry and was ordained on July 7, 1998. Robby loved Jesus, his family, the Gamecocks, music, and golf. He was the pastor at The Garden Church of Florence. Robby was a gifted preacher of God's word, and he ministered and brought glory to Christ throughout his life. Robby and his wife, April, were married for 18 years, but he claimed to have loved her his entire life. They have four precious children: Bryson, Raelyn, Jordan, and Evan. The depth of his love for them is evident in his courageous fight over the last five years. He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent C. Ott; grandparents, Gene and Freda Ott, and Bill and Dot Coker. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Kay Ott Ward (Frank) of Goose Creek; brother, Stewart Ott (Casey) of North Charleston; grandmother, Lee Christy of North Charleston; parents-in-law, William and Emily Cann of Goose Creek; sister-in-law, Renee' Hollifield (Travis) of Summerville; nephews, Joshua Hollifield (Laura), Zachary Hollifield (Kerrie), and Luke Ott; and nieces, Adeline Ott, Emelyne and Sadie Hollifield. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Robby's life at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017, at The Church at Sandhurst. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, at Carolina Memorial Park in North Charleston. Memorials may be made to the Robby Ott Medical Fund, 2313 McDonald Blvd., Florence, SC 29506; or to The Garden Church, 1937 W. Palmetto St., PMB104, Florence, SC 29501. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I grew up in Portside Baptist church with Robby and April and so I know Robby did truly love April all his life. I never remember a time from pre-school through high school that he wasn't right by her side. I know Robby is at peace with our Savior but I also know that Robby is still right by your side April and your precious children. God bless you all.

All words will fall short on what a inspiration Robbie was. If I had to pick 3 words to describe Robbie they'd be, "Faith", "Family", "Friend". I'm honored to have known him and to call him friend. Continued prayers for April and the family.

Prayers for April and children. I taught Robby and April both at Goose Creek High School, they were in my marketing program. I remember them fondly, and remember Robbie's involvement in the Gator Pride Band. Both were such a pleasure to teach, and I remember them so fondly. RIP, Robbie, you will always be remembered.
