Robert Ormsby Obituary

ORMSBY, ROBERT Age 84, of Moreno Valley, CA, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 19th at Riverside Community Hospital. He was born August 9, 1920 in Hubbard, Ohio. Robert Ormsby spent his youth in St. Petersburg Florida. He married his high school sweetheart, Julia McKennon before being called for duty in World War II. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in the Philippines. In the early 1950's, Robert and Julia moved to California to continue raising their family. Robert Ormsby's life exemplified the meaning of devotion to family. He worked for a total of 44 years for the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe railroads in various capacities, and retired at age 77. He enjoyed family gatherings, swing music, and USC football games. Robert Ormsby is survived by his children, Bonnie Pobjoy of Granada Hills, CA, Sharon Costello of West Hills, CA, Michael Ormsby of Concho, AZ and Chris Ormsby of Riverside, CA. He is survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Donald Ormsby of Palm Coast, Florida and five nephews in Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, and daughter, Linda Ormsby. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2004, at 4:00pm at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92503.
