Robert Marriott Obituary

Robert "Bob" Charles Marriott Summerville - Robert "Bob" Charles Marriott, 73, of Summerville, husband of Donna Steinkamp Marriott, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Summerville Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 2 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Bob was born on February 21, 1948, in Fitchburg, MA, son of the late Phillip George and Alice McDowell Marriott. He received his Bachelor's in Chemistry from Florida Southern College then went on to attend University of South Carolina. Bob then received his Master's from Georgia State University. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. Bob, an Eagle Scout himself, started as a Scoutmaster in 1973. He continued with Boy Scouts for many years where he became President of the Palmetto Council and was awarded the Silver Beaver. Bob worked for Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. He then became the Head of Research and Development for Sequa Chemical in Chester, SC. After that he retired to run a series of Bed and Breakfasts across the country with Donna. He was a huge Dolphins and Red Sox fan. He always helped others. Above all Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Donna, are: son, Scott Marriott (Danielle) of Goose Creek; three grandchildren: Brandon Marriott of Summerville, Kalyn Marriott of Summerville, and Piper Marriott of Goose Creek; sister, Linda Cox of Wake Forest, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
