Robert Langen Obituary

LANGEN, Robert Robert Carl Langen, 68, of Seabrook Island, formerly of Simsbury, CT, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007. He was the son of Carl George Langen and Elizabeth Haubens Langen, and was raised in Bogota, NJ. He was a graduate of Trinity College and Columbia Business School, and had a lengthy career in the financial services industry beginning at Brown Brothers Harriman in New York. He moved to Connecticut in 1968, became a partner at Conning & Company, and subsequently founded Langen McAlenney, a division of Janney Montgomery Scott. He enjoyed bird watching, civil war history and golf, and was an avid New England Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes fan. Mr. Langen is survived by his wife, Tori G. Langen; three children, Michael W. Langen and wife Kathleen of Dover, MA, Sara M. Frye and husband Bobby of Johns Island, SC, Melissa J. Noble and husband George of Winchester, MA.; one stepson, Samuel H. Batterson of Providence, RI; two sisters, Elaine Kessler of Schenectady, NY, and Nancy Steketee of Oakland, CA; and seven grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his service on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at three o'clock in Johns Island Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063, or Seabrook Island Greenspace Conversancy, PO Box 185, Johns Island, SC 29457-0185.
