Robert Kaiser Obituary

Robert L. Kaiser, Jr. Mt. Pleasant - Robert Lee Kaiser, Jr., 69 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was the first of five children born to the late Robert Lee and Ursula Salvo Kaiser. Robert was born with cerebral palsy on February 9, 1953 in Charleston. He attended special education classes at James Simmons Elementary, Laing Middle School, and then Moultrie High School, where he received his certificate of achievement in 1972. He enjoyed driving his golf cart, helping around the house with chores, and assisting on the farm cutting grass, caring for cows, horses, chickens, and other farm animals including a peacock. Robert enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and visiting with his neighbors. He would put trash cans out for them, get their newspapers, make, and deliver his famous iced tea to them. He loved helping people and was a blessing to his family and others! We grew up in a wonderful neighborhood with many children and everyone knew Robert. He enjoyed a game of basketball on our driveway or football in the front yard that rarely had grass since it served as one of the neighborhood fields. Robert loved his music, cars, and sports. He could tell you who sang what song on the radio. He had more albums and CDs than the record stores. He could look at a car from a distance and tell you the year, make and model of it. He knew all the statistics of the various sports teams and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, and corn hole until recent years. Robert was up bright and early for 7 AM church for many years. He looked forward to attending mass and socializing with his church family after mass. Robert loved volunteering at ECCO for many years and looked forward to his Friday morning there. After the passing of his parents, his siblings, nieces, and nephews continued to care for him, even after he moved to memory care facilities. Robert loved all his family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than having all of them together for a celebration! Robert is survived by his sisters and brother, Ann Marie Forsberg (Dennis), Vincent Kaiser (Jan), Ursula Ferguson (Michael), and Jane Kaiser, all of Charleston. His surviving nieces and nephews are Joseph Kaiser, Lauren Sims (Micah), Natalie Inabnett (Legrand), Elise Wilson (Will), Vince Kaiser, and Thomas Ferguson. He was predeceased by his niece, Amanda Kaiser and his nephew, Patrick Clarkin. Robert is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Ursula Leigh Sims, Dominic Sims, Baby Wilson, and Baby Inabnett, both due in August, as well as his devoted aunt Nancy Kruger (Louis), and several other aunts and cousins. A Decade of the Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464, with the visitation immediately following. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464, with the burial following at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 60 Huguenin Avenue, Charleston, SC 29401. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Lutheran Hospice, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464, or Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. I´ve known Robert and his family most of my life... we grew up in the same neighborhood... and our neighborhood was unusual in that families who moved there.. stayed there... it was one large extended family of neighbors who knew each other... very few ever left..
Robert kept track of EVERYBODY!!
He was always there to help those in need!!! He loved all of us and we ALL loved and respected him!!!
He and I both loved cars and he was an expert in knowing each one...
But above ALL he LOVED HIS MUSIC!! And he knew everything there was to know about his vast collection... and .. YES ,HE DID have a finer collection than any record store!!!
I could always count on him to remember things and people who I couldn´t remember... he was an amazing human being and a fine and compassionate person!!!
I´ll always miss the ole neighborhood days and all our fun times we all spent together..
To the Kaiser family... I hope you all know ... how Robert loved each of you.. and he also knows how much he was loved by you!!!
You are a fine family and I´m SURE your parents are very proud of each of you!!
I hope the pain of your loss is soon filled with the beautiful memories of Robert that we all share with you!!
Love to each of you!!
And he

May the God of peace give you all comfort at this time of loss. Robert was my all time favorite when I worked alongside of him in a memory care community. He was always the perfect gentleman and had the best jokes. His smile and laugh were contagious. I know he is running the hills in heaven now! Much love

Dear Kaiser Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Robert as well. We had hours of conversations in your front yard about his love of music and cars. I remember the many times I walked down the hallway in your home and he would stop me as I passed his bedroom and say, "Susan, come in here and listen to my new album." He would be so excited to share it! I know that your parents, Amanda and Patrick have greeted him with very open and loving arms. My thoughts are with each one of you.
Much love always,
Susan M Graham
