Robert Jenkins Obituary

Robert Ronald "Duck" Jenkins MT. PLEASANT - Duck was born on May 27, 1956. He passed away on September 20, 2024. Duck was often randomly stopped and brought back to his times as a premier point guard for Wando High's first and most memorable basketball team, 1973/1974. He was named MVP of the Christmas Invitational tournament for feeding All-State Slim Hamilton as Slim slashed and as Fuzzy Edwards crashed the backboard for the talent laden Wando Warriors. His personal glory days carried forward for fifty years and his ebullient personality made him easily noticed where he had his fun on Coleman Boulevard. Many remember "Duck Fest" celebrated at Wild Wing Cafe and his sweet presence there and at other Old Village watering holes. Playground student of Otto German's, son of "Red Man", younger brother of "Hanks", Duck was easy company across all groups. Duck graduated from Wando High School in 1974, Wando's first ever graduating class. And, back to his basketball prowess, Duck dribbled and passed with a knack for knowing which of his teammates ought to have the ball. A whiz of a ball handler, he broke the defensive presses which Middleton and Berkeley High attempted to put on his team. He went on to play college basketball at Morris College in Sumter, S.C. Duck was Marion E. and Albertha Jenkins' son; Marion E. Jenkins, Jr.'s brother (all three of whom predeceased him); Vivien Hamilton and Ruth Seaward's brother; and Brandon Jenkins and Lexus Broughton's father. He also leaves nieces, Ivy, Alfaretta, Chris, Natasha, and Devin; nephew, Raymond; and, devoted cousin, Larry Singleton. Duck's life-long friends include: Dennis Bryce, Michael (Slim) Hamilton, Waring Howe, Jr., Lisa Cleary Disher, Bill McIntosh, Robert Ed McIntosh, Clyde Cochrane, Charles "Big Charles" Brunson, and others for sure. Duck was a huge fan of the UNC Tarheels. He also really liked his Indianapolis Colts. A Celebration of His Life will take place on October 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Location: Masonic Lodge, 415 Greenwich St., Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Ronald/DUCK
We will always remember him for his talent as a basketball player, and his charming, peaceful personality. He's shown us with his patience, endurance, his unflappable characteristics (assurances and self control), to deal with life challenges and accomplishments. A small man in size, but a huge man in SPIRIT.
Thanks to Duck and Hanks for your physical existence sharing and showing your SPIRITUAL values with love and compassion.
We are a Spirit in a body having a human experience.

Warriors!
A smile has been plastered on my face since I learned of your camaraderie, support and love for that awesome point guard, Duck. I can still see him handling that ball down court setting up the pass that would result in another Warrior point - swoosh, "all net" 2-points!!!

Aww, Duck has transitioned to family hugs and slaps on the back from Hanks, Big Red and his mama. His heart and character still speaks volumes. I am so honored, with the rest of you, to have been graced with his trust and friendship.

Much Love,
Sibyl McNeil -Newell

A wonderful seed of the original Mt. Pleasant Community that will never be forgotten. We had a community of love and respect. Most residents had a nick name. So "Duck " asyou were always called, Rest in peace and know when you will be spoken of, it will be with a beautiful Smile.

Duck was always dedicated to his classmates. He got together with them at every opportunity. He always lit up the room and the stories he could share of those days at Wando. He is a Legend!

I've known Duck since 1st grade and he was my first puppy love. Although we all went out separate ways after Wando graduation, I always remembered him as the same easy going cheerful person and a great basketball player. RIP my
friend.

Mr. Duck has been one the the greatest joys of growing up, he was my dads best friend; since they were in elementary school. He showed me unconditional love, and loved my children like family. He will be greatly missed, and I will think of you often.

I hope you´re happy and cracking open a cold one up there, pain free. We love you and will miss you endlessly.
