Cathy, I just read in my new Duke magazine about Carl's death, and I had to let you know how sorry I am. Although it's been decades and no contacts, I remember our friendship on "3rd West" and also your good-looking boyfriend Carl Hubbard. My boyfriend was Jim Logan, and I married him, too. My sincere sympathy to all the family. Carl's obituary shows what an outstanding person he was. I'm proud to remember you both.

To the family of Carl Hubbard:
Dear Folks, I'm one of those cousins you seldom hear from but I wanted to extend my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of Carl. He not only gave blessings to our Hubbard clan, but his influence extended far beyond the places where he lived and worked. Those for years to come will continue to recognize his name with a great deal of respect and appreciation for the gifts of time, self and expertise that made him a great person. I will always remember the visits he made to our house in Greenville when I was a child. I always looked forward to those days with Carl, Sis, Mike, Aunt Dele and Uncle Cliff. They still bring memories of joy to me. Just know that I will continue to have you in my prayers and thoughts as the days go by. With love from Mary Bates Foster.
