Robert Hollings Obituary

I just learned of Robbie's death. What a loss! In just a short week last spring, we became friends on a trip down the Grand Canyon. My thoughts are with Karen, his sister Pam and all of his friends and family.

My wife and I have enjoyed getting to know Robbie over the past several years and are saddened to hear of his passing. He was someone we trusted and looked forward to seeing in our trips to Charleston. I remember on one visit Robbie talking about looking forward to having lunch with his daughter. Our hearts go out to his family. We will miss you Robbie.

Carol and I are saddened to learn of Robbie's passing, and send our deepest sympathy to his family. I wish we had been able to visit with all of you on Monday evening; I have such fond memories of our years on Queen Street.

I just learned of Robbie's passing and am so very sorry to hear this! I have such fond memories of the times our families spent together!

My sincere condolences to Robbie's family. Robbie was a mentor to me in the nursery industry. I learned a lot from him and enjoyed every conversation and visit we had. He loved his kids and life and truly made an impact on me. Every time I see sushi I think of him-still haven't acquired the taste for it, but had it for the first time with him during a tradeshow dinner. He will be missed.

RIP Robbie. You were a pleasure to work with and maintained an optimistic view and lighthearted nature that is an inspiration to us all.

We are so sorry for your sudden loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My wife, Pat and daughter Cameron met Robbie when he sold Cameron her first house last year. Pat and I spent a couple of days with him last week looking for a home for ourselves.

He was such a southern gentleman. He was so kind to my daughter going above and beyond what what anyone would expect. He put me to shame opening and closing doors for my wife. She is a big northern gardener and they spent as much time discussing southern plants as they did on the houses. In the future, whenever I remember to hold a car door for her I know she will think of Robbie.

The only thing he had more passion for than plants was his family. He drove us by his sons and his sons friends house at the end of the street. He was so exited about becoming a grandfather. He treated my daughter like one of his own, making sure she got a good deal, and helping her with referrals and advice that was invaluable. He was a remarkable man.

Robbie was a true gentlemen and true friend to many. His genuine care and concern, along with getting things done (usually in an enjoyable manner) is unmatched by anyone I have ever known. My condolences to his family and his many friends. Rest in Peace Ole Buddy.

I have many fond memories of time spent with Robbie while our children were growing up. He was always so generous to open his home to all of us on a Saturday night. I also appreciated his kindness and help to my son, Matthew, after he lost his father. I will miss him.

Many fun and fond summer memories on Sullivan's Island with Robbie and sister Pam...making seine nets on the porch, building "ball castles," collecting treasures on the beach...connecting with nature and having good old fashion fun. Our little colony of families all had such great times on Station 28. Always a friend to all, a kindred spirit.

I got to know Robbie through real estate and The South Carolina Society. He will be remembered as friend and true gentleman and I am saddened to hear of your unexpected loss.

Robbie was and is one of those rare individual's that combined humility, intelligence, and a caring spirit. He will be missed.

Robbie and I were close "summer friends" on Sullivan's Island in our youth--some of my fondest memories of that fondest of times were with him-clearing our houses (and neighbors) of wasps (not so smart) and building "ball castles" (smarter)---may his memory be a blessing, Sam Rosen

What grace Robbie Hollings brought to every meeting, whether at the Top Producer lunches;on the phone: or running into him somewhere. I am blessed to have known him and sorrowed for his loss. Peace and comfort to all of his family whose loss is enormous. Such a sweet guy!

Karen - I don't know what to say except Robbie was a good friend and I will miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Robert and I plan to attend the visitation today for Robbie and the memorial service tomorrow. We know that you all feel such a loss without your husband, father, and brother.We wish there were adequate words to convey our sympathy. Robbie,Stacey and family, in the short time we have known Robbie through you two, we came to love to be around him and enjoy his company. He was just that kind of man. When you met him, he made you feel as if you had known him all your life. It is so sad he was taken too soon. He will be missed and we know Heaven is a better place with his company.

We lost a good man, a gentleman, and a stalwart in our community. We were always glad to see Robbie…he made us believe it was a mutual pleasure. I never heard him speak ill of another human being. He was a class act that I will miss.
