Monterey
Robert Lee Haney, a devoted professor and renowned scientist in the fields of meteorology and oceanography, passed away peacefully at his Monterey home on Friday, January 31, 2020. His wife, Olivera, and daughter, Laura, were with him. He was 81.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life at Carmel Fields (the former Rancho Canada Golf Course) on February 29th at 11am in the Merienda Room. Bob and his lovely wife were clients of mine for many years when I lived on the Monterey Peninsula. With degrees in geology and engineering I was always curious about Bob's professional work in climate forecasting via the oceanic-atmospheric interface. Bob's number one passion beyond science was golf. He and I used to talk about getting together on the links but sadly that never happened. Bob died 7 months before my beloved dad died in Monterey at the age of 95. My dad also knew Bob. I hope his widow is doing well, and I'm sure she misses Bob.
