Robert Eager Obituary

Robert William Eager, Jr. MT. PLEASANT - Robert William (Bob) Eager, Jr., 76, quietly passed away at his home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina Saturday, January 23, 2021 after a long illness. Bob was born on February 18, 1944 to Helen F. And Robert W. Eager, Sr. (both deceased) in Medford, Massachusetts. He grew up in New Jersey and attended Red Bank Catholic High School. He then graduated from Saint Michaels's College. Bob served in the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. Bob followed his father in the insurance industry and he specialized in the reinsurance business. In the late 70s, he started his career with National Re. He became Executive Vice President of Underwriting and a Director with National Re, and then the General Re, before retiring in the late 90s. Bob had one of the brightest minds in the industry, and earned deep respect for his underwriting knowledge and the close relationships he maintained with his clients and co-workers. Retirement brought daily rounds of golf, beers with the boys at Dunleavy's Pub on Sullivan's Island and travels with his wife. Bob was a kind and generous man. His family loved him deeply and his friends cherished him. Bob is survived by his wife, Cassandra, his daughters, Ashley Williams (Scott), Shannon Kennemur (Robbie), Heather Carter (Bobby), his step-daughters, Renee Patey and Alexandra Patey, his grandsons, Gregory Kurtzman, Hugh Kennemur and Noah Kennemur, and his sisters, Donna Buckley and Mary Schenone. Bob's sister, Cam Feinberg and his former wife, Susan Davidson predeceased him. A celebration of life is planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bob's preferred charity, The Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston
