Robert Devereux Obituary

Robert Devereux MT. PLEASANT - Robert Bernard Devereux, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, husband to Joan Devereux, passed away August 27, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John Patrick and Margaret Marshall Devereux. Mr. Devereux joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict, and later attended East Tennessee State University. He retired from Grolier Educational Materials after a career as a salesman. Mr. Devereux loved to write and read poetry and enjoyed music. He also enjoyed the beach, Charleston history and researching his family genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Joan Devereux, two daughters, Lynn Duble and husband Mark of Look Out Mountain, GA and Rene Booker and husband Jerry of Marietta, GA; step children, Kathy Kennedy of Isle of Palms, David Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant, James Doug Kennedy of Isle of Palms and Timothy Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Allen, Chelsey, Charlie, Faith and John Mark Duble and Justin Booker; great grandson, Joseph Skogen; three step grandchildren, Blair, Wofford and Angela. Mr. Devereux also leaves behind his dog, "Grumpy." Liturgy of Christian Burial is TODAY, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10:00A.M. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends following service. Burial will follow at 2:00P.M. in Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors. I am soo sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. Dad and I want you to know that you and your family in our thoughts and prayers during this time. I can remember soo many times of yall visiting Mom and Dad and all the laughs all of you had. Lots of Love to you Aunt Joan.

Joan, Ronnie and I are so sorry to hear the news....although we havent seen you two in so long we will always remember Bobby and how sweet a man he was. I can just picture him now in Heaven wearing that blue captains hat with a grin a mile wide! I hope we can get together soon and please take care Debby and Ronnie Maxwell
