Robert Dennis Obituary

Robert Dennis N. CHARLESTON - Robert Dennis was born October 9, 1927. He departed this life on December 4, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born to Mary and Eddie Dennis in Charleston, SC. Both parents preceded him in death. He attended Liberty Hill Elementary and worked in the fields to help out his parents until he was drafted in the United States Army. After returning home, he met and married Ms. Beulah Harris. They were blessed with two sons; Rev. Samuel Lee Dennis and Harry Benjamin Dennis. Rev. Samuel Lee Dennis preceded him in death. Mr. Dennis went on to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and retired after 36 years. He attended New Tabernacle Fourth Baptist Church in Charleston, SC, under the leadership of Pastor Rev. Covington. He served in the church from an early age up until his health failed. He also was a lead singer of the "Southern Gates" of Charleston, SC. All the other members preceded him in death. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, his son; Harry B. Dennis, one sister; Dorothy Small Singleton (Harry), one brother; Charles Dennis who preceded him in death and one sister who preceded him in death, Mary Lee Dennis, aunts; Minister Oila Rose McCray, Zeada Morris and Joanne Dennis, grands; Dwayne Brown (Terri) Cornelius Townsend (Simil), Latesha Dennis, Willie Mae Dennis, Brittany Hugie and Dionna Dennis, 24 great- grands, 11 great-great-grands, special friends; Maybell Smalls and Patricia Kendred.
