Robert Carroll Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Carroll MT. PLEASANT - Captain Bobby Carroll (Robert Carroll), age 59, beloved husband, son, brother, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer. Bobby was born July 18, 1953 and raised in Princess Anne County. He was one of ten children, the youngest son born to Edna White Carroll and James (Jamie) Adrian Carroll. Around the age of 7 he began fishing, hunting and building duck blinds with his father Jamie. His early knowledge of these trades developed Bobby into an avid, popular and successful hunting guide for Bay Haven Farms in Virginia Beach, VA and William's Lodge in Knotts Island, NC. He enjoyed many seasons of commercial net fishing on Corova Beach, NC and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Bobby graduated from Kellam High School in 1973. He later earned his certified marine mechanics degree and began working for Princess Anne Marine. He partnered an ownership with the marina for eight years. He established Bobby's Mobile Marina in 1981 from his residence, nobly maintaining local and out of state clients for years. In 2007, Bobby found a new life with his wife Kimberly Carroll by moving to Mount Pleasant, SC. They re-established Raul's Seafood, becoming the most successful commercial seafood company in the Low Country area. In 2010, Bobby and Kimberly re-named the company to Kimberly's Crabs. Along with the catch and market of blue crabs, stone claw crabs, shrimp and fish, Bobby and Kimberly harvested and marketed soft shells crabs from their residence. They were honored to provide fresh local seafood to many Charleston area restaurants. In 2008, they received the prestigious Three Sisters Award. Throughout the next few years they were filmed and televised by the Discovery Channel, had numerous articles and photos in many local and surrounding newspapers and magazines. Amongst friends and colleagues they were environmental icons in the community, always giving back to the local fishing community. He enjoyed a hunting trip to Saskatoon Canada with his childhood hunting friends, and to West Virginia with Kimberly and the dogs prior to becoming ill. He enjoyed traveling to many places. Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee NC were favorite vacation spots for him and his wife. Always accompanied, of course, by their 3 dogs P-Nut, Choo and Rosita. Traveling throughout the Southeast to visit family and friends was a joy any time of the year. He attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and had Jesus and the Lord for his comfort. Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard B. Carroll and John D. Carroll. Bobby is survived by his wife of 4 years Kimberly Buist Carroll: His daughter, Stacy L. Carroll of Williamsburg, VA.; His son, Robert Carroll Jr. (Robby) of Mount Pleasant, SC.; His daughter in law, Leah Carroll of Mount Pleasant, SC.; His grand-daughters, Sophie L. Carroll of Mount Pleasant, SC. and Joeli Bayot of Va. Beach, VA.; Extended family member Michael Moore of Va. Beach, VA.; Brothers Sidney Dean Carroll of Va. Beach, VA. and James A. (Jimmy) Carroll of Ernul, NC.; Sisters Alice C. White of Va. Beach, VA., Adelia (Teany) Whelan of Va. Beach, VA., Nellie A. Leonardson of Va. Beach, VA. Adell C. Eden of Mathis, TX. and Adelaide Price of Sinton, TX. Bobby leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, great and great-great relatives, and amazing friends who loved him dearly. Children play baseball, hide and seek, run through the woods and have many adventures. We were in the cub scouts and boy scouts and all ways were partners. Thanks my friend for letting me be a part of that. Growing up and moving on we lost touch but never the memories. God bless you and your family.
