Robert Bonifay Obituary

Robert L. "Robbie" Bonifay Jr. HANAHAN - Robert L. "Robbie" Bonifay Jr. of Hanahan passed away Monday, April 3rd 2017. Robbie was born January 19th, 1957, the son of Capt. Robert L. Bonifay Sr. USMC (ret) and Frances McClenny of Summerville. Robbie spent his formative years developing his love of the water, hunting, and a general penchant for mischief on James Island. After graduating from James Island High School with the honor of "Least Likely to Succeed" (narrowly beating out his partner in crime, Roy Wooten, for the distinction) he went on to a successful career in the Medical Device manufacturing field. After retiring as the Hill-Rom Plant Manager in Charleston, Robbie went on to found his own company, Airus Medical, based on a revolutionary wound care therapy that he designed. While it can be fairly said that Robbie danced to his own beat, it is also equally true that his true love and passion was his family and friends. Everything he did, from work, coaching youth sports, Cub Scouts, fishing, hunting, storytelling and BBQing were more for the benefit and enjoyment of his family and friends than his own. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pamela (Chubb) and their two children Alex Bonifay and Christina Dennis (Ryan); mother Frances McClenny (Mac); mother in-law Leona Chubb; sisters Cheryl Bonifay, Wendi Dion (Troy), Marti White; brothers "Buddha" Bonifay (Rosalyn), Michael Driggers, Walter Bonifay, Lee Bonifay (Leslie) and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored. Robbie is predeceased by his father, Robert Sr. The family would like to express their solemn gratitude for the outpouring of support and will receive family and friends at their home located at 1066 Dominion Drive, Hanahan on Saturday April 8th from 4-7pm. Online condolences may be sent to www.carolinamemorial.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you to make donations to Fishing for Miracles Post Office Box 2, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482. I am very shocked as I just learned of Robbie's passing on April 3rd. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bonifay family. Robbie was a customer, a friend or friends and just a great guy that could light up the place with his mere presence. He had such a great sense of humor and always had a story and a smile. You will be dearly missed.

To the family and friends of Rob Bonifay I cannot imagine how complete and utterly devastating this has been for you, although I did not know Rob as well as I would have liked, I was looking forward to getting to know him a lot better in business and friendship. You only had to meet him one time and he left a lasting impression, again on behalf of myself and Family Medical Supply our thoughts and prayers go out to you now and in the future. God bless. Don Clark, Family Medical Supply, Dunn, NC.

Sadly, I never had the privilege of meeting Rob or his family. I do feel the need to express my sincere gratitude for the kindness Rob and his family showed my daughter
(Melissa) and grandson (Devon) after moving to the Charleston area. He showed them friendship that is seldom shared. I am confident he made a positive
Impact on their lives. And am equally sure Devon will not forget his 12th birthday dinner Rob, Pam, family and friends shared with him! Thank you from the bottom of
my heart! Prayers for you all during your overwhelming loss.

There are something's that nobody expects to happen but we have to accept it when they do. There are people that we don't want to live without, but sometimes we have to. Robbie's kindness, laughter and joking around will no longer be part of our lives and will be surely missed, but his memories will forever be in our hearts. Pamela, please except our deepest and sincere condolences and sympathy to you and the family. JJ and Margaret and Bryan Romano
