7th grade basketball at Reed, first place. Freshman basketball at HHS, first place. You were our coach, our friend, and the coach we all wanted to play for. Many years later, we all would buy stamps at the Dillons store hoping to see you there, buy our stamps, but most importantly, to have a short visit with you.

Prayers to all who knew and loved Coach Barnes. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. I for one would not be the same without his smiling face and true fairness that he bestowed upon every student as well as anyone he ever came into contact with. Coach Barnes, you will be truely missed, but always remembered.

Coach just wasn't a Coach or a teacher, he was also a friend to his students. I got to see alot of Coach when he worked with my Husband at Dillons for many years & he was just as cheerful there as he was at school. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

So sorry for your loss

January 6, 2013

Coach always had a smile, story and a scolding for any rowdy teens at Dillons. Guess you couldn't stop a good teacher! He always got a kick out of the fact his old students still called him Coach when they came in the store! He was a pleasure and will be missed!

January 6, 2013

He was Coach even when he worked at Dillons and he really got a kick outta that. He was a pretty nice guy, always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. Sometimes reverted back into a teacher at the store to yell at teens! : ) He was a pleasure! Miss you Coach!
