Deepest sympathies to the Cooper family. The Coopers were one of the first American families I had the pleasure of meeting. I was far from my place of birth and quite homesick. The entire Cooper family welcomed me into their lives with open arms. Rick was not only my roommate at The Citadel but one of my first and most memorable American friends. May he rest easy, sincerely,
Mansour and Amy Rashtchian

Dear Elsie, Norman, Randy, Tammy, Trudy, Will and all of the family,
Please accept my deepest condolences for the passing of Ricky. It seem that no matter how much
time we have to prepare for the daywe are never ready when the time finally arrives for our loved ones to go.
Our families go back so far together. Mr. Canon, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper and my parents were very close both professionally and personally for many years. They all took a lot of pride in sharing the successes of their children and grandchildren. Ricky was no exception as they all loved talking about the twins!! I know Ricky will be missed greatly by all of you. He will never be forgotten as his legacy lives on with his children, grandchildren and siblings. He was fortunate to be loved by so many. As you all share your fond memories of him, may they grow and bring you comfort, laughter and peace in the days ahead.
Sending love to all of you.
Sincerely,
Sandy DeAntonio

Rick was a dear friend and the kindest person. During this journey with Rick and Elisa, I have found comfort in this quote from Washington Irving.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief, and unspeakable love."

Im so sorry for your loss. Everytime I saw Rick he had a smile on his face. He loved my cream Golden, Duke and we stopped many times so he could pet him. I think it brought Rick comfort. Sending all the Coopers prayers during this very difficult time.

l met Rick and Randy the summer of 1976, our first year in Charleston after finishing grad school at Purdue. Mr. Cannon interviewed me on my January birthday and immediately offered me a jobno mention was made of the “extra workload “ to come when The Citadel got out for the summer and l had to “ride herd” on these two ruffians when not doing design work but rather redoing the window displays that faced Meeting Street in the old building. They were supposed to be helping me place the furniture where l said it should go, but that seldom happened on the go-round. Selective hearing played in to their shenanigansbut we did have fun!! Randy went on to other pursuits, but Rick chose the family business and ended up being a wonderful knowledgeable member of the sales staff. In later years Ed and l were often served by Rick when we needed a piece of furniture and it was always an enjoyable visit back to a store that is held in such high esteem by Charlestonians. Yes, you will be greatly missed and we’re so sorry we had to lose you too soon. You played the hand given to you very well!

I feel I speak for all of Rick´s PG Class of `75 classmates when I say that we will sorely miss Rick´s friendly demeanor. He was a class leader always doing the right thing but with a hint of mischief. He was extremely helpful and understanding with my parents as we sought to replace their cherished furniture after a hurricane. He put their fears to rest and we were able to get them back in their house in a safe and comfortable manner thanks to him.

Now that I have dried my eyes, I can write to tell you that the pictorial memorial to Rick is heart-warming (and tear-jerking). Wow
In EVERY image of Rick, he is smiling- always smiling. What a guy, what a friend. There’ll never be another like him. Thank you for including me in his memorial and the obit, which couldn’t have been more beautiful. I love all of you and will miss my best friend until the end of time.
