Richard Waring Obituary

WARING, JR., Richard Richard G. Dicky Waring, Jr., 84, of Summerville, SC died March 11, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home. He was twice married: first to the late Mrs. Magie Peters Waring and secondly to Mrs. Betty Jo Anderson Waring. Funeral services will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church Friday afternoon, March 14, 2008 at two o'clock. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Parks Funeral Home Thursday evening from five until eight o'clock. Mr. Waring was born in Summerville, SC on March 27, 1923 and was a son to the late Richard George Waring and Marie Hamilton Waring. He was a retired electrician for SCE & G and Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was also retired from Summerville School district. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Summerville Presbyterian Church and attended Bethany United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and his great catfish stew. He is survived by his wife of Summerville; his daughter, Susan Waring Cosgrove and her husband, Peter Cosgrove; his oldest son, Richard George Waring, III and his wife Barbara Waring; his youngest son, James Albert Waring; one brother, Hayne Waring, all of Summerville; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Hayne Waring and his siblings, Marie Waring Copleston, Florence Sexton, Esther Smith and Steven Waring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W. 3rd South Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
