Richard Morgan Reynolds MT. PLEASANT - Richard Morgan Reynolds, 73, died September 27, 2010. He was born April 8, 1937, in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Neil and Martha Reynolds. Rick spent most of his life in and around Hartford, CT., where he had many, many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Deborah Sloan Reynolds, and his sister, Jenny Kate Collins of Colorado. He is survived by his daughters, Katherine Reynolds Smith of Charleston, SC, and Dolly Reynolds Tavasieff of San Francisco, CA.; his sister, Cornelia Farmer of Farmington, Maine; his granddaughters, Oceana and Sophia Tavasieff of California and Kaden Smith of Charleston; several nieces and nephews, including Matthew Farmer of Oakton, VA, Richard Morgan Farmer of Chicago, IL, and Elizabeth Farmer of Cambridge, MA.; and son-in-laws, Glenn Smith of Charleston and Sergei Tavasieff of San Francisco. Rick spent his entire career as an attorney with Day, Berry & Howard of Hartford. He was a senior partner in the Antitrust Division and a member of the United Kingdom group of the firm's international practice. He was a graduate of Loomis Chaffee School, Yale University, Yale Law School and Georgetown University Law School. He was a popular guest lecturer and advisory board member at the University of Connecticut Business School and served as chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association's Antitrust Section. He was a strong believer in a lawyer's commitment to providing pro bono services to disadvantaged communities. To that end, he served on both the United Way's capital campaign and the Easter Seals Foundation. Rick also was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Judge Advocate General corps. Rick was known by many as a kind and generous man, with great intellect, grace and charm. He was an avid reader, golfer and squash player. He loved to travel, especially to Europe. He spent a mid-career sabbatical in the Hampstead area of London and returned to that city many times, becoming a favored guest of the Goring Hotel. Each year, he and his British compatriots hosted a festive gathering known as the Boston Tea Party. During his lifetime, Rick belonged to Zeta Psi Fraternity, the Mory's Association, the Mount Pleasant Country Club, Wild Dunes (SC) Beach & Racquet Club, the Penrod (CT) Club, Yale Cooperative Association, Hartford Tennis Club, the Pentagon Athletic Club, Boston Athletic Club, Hop Meadow (CT) Country Club, Stone House (RI) Club, the Tradewinds (SC) Club, H.Y.A.C. (CT) Club, the University (CT) Club, the Hartford Club, Hartford Golf Club, the Yale Club of New York City and the Institute of Directors in London. A memorial service in the Hartford area will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yale University through the Yale Office of Development, P.O.
