Richard McCarthy Obituary

McCARTHY, Richard Richard Michael McCarthy, of Katy, Texas, was born on October 27, 1936, in Syracuse, New York, to Robert Michael McCarthy and Edith Lenhardt McCarthy. After graduating from Cornell University, he proudly served as a Captain in the US Marine Corps. In 1964, Dick married Judith Louise Rightmire in Rocky Hill, New Jersey, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised a son and a daughter. Dick raced cars with the SCCA, was an avid golfer and photographer, had a successful 32 year finance career at Procter & Gamble and was active on several Boards of Directors including the National Food and HBC Manufacturers Credit Group. Dick and Judy moved to Seabrook Island, South Carolina, traveled extensively, then moved to Houston. Dick was happiest when he was with his granddaughter Emmaline and the rest of his family. Dick McCarthy passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2007, in Katy, Texas at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife, Judy of Katy, TX; children, Richard Michael McCarthy, Jr. of Huntington Beach, CA and Jill Arntz & her husband, Kevin; granddaughter Emmaline Arntz of Houston, TX and brothers Robert McCarthy & wife, Helen and David McCarthy & fiancée, Judith Fardig. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. After a valiant fight, Dick passed away from a rare blood disease, Amyloidosis, which creates proteins that ultimately cause organ failure.
