Richard Kasch Obituary

Richard "Dick" E. Kasch

AGE: 74 • Wilmington

Richard (Dick) E. Kasch, age 74, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 after a year-long and very courageous battle with cancer. Dick leaves behind his college sweetheart and dear wife of 51 years, Sandra (Magrath) Kasch and his two children, Laura Kasch-Semenza and Craig Kasch. Sadly, Dick was predeceased by his youngest son, Devin Kasch who passed away in 2002. He is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren, Allison, Victoria, Evan, Carly, Gabriel, and Nicolai, all of whom brought him great joy.

Dick was born in Freeport, Illinois to the late Elmer and Jessie (Sutton) Kasch. After graduating from Freeport High School, he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Sociology. Following college Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was a Lieutenant for three years. After serving with honor in the Navy, Dick began his career with DuPont in 1966 retiring in 1997 after 31 years. He spent the majority of his career in Human Resources retiring as a Principal Labor Relations Consultant where he was known widely for his wisdom and his dedication to the fair treatment of all the employees. Dick will be greatly missed by his friends and his family. He was a very proud and honorable man who even in his last year of life proved himself to be a very heroic example to those who loved him.

No services are planned at this time but a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held for close family and friends in the near future. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dick's name to Heifer International. www.heifer.org or 855-948-6437. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.foundsfuneralhome.com.

Dear Sandy and family:
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Dick. He was one of the finest bosses I ever had the pleasure of working with in the Labor group at DuPont. Someone called him “the gentle giant” and, indeed, that is exactly who he was!
With sympathy,
