Richard Hicks Obituary

Richard Frank Hicks, Sr. ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Richard Frank Hicks, Sr., "Butch", 72, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Charleston, South Carolina, left this life peacefully surrounded by family and friends on September 21, 2012. Richard is survived by his daughter, Tiffney Cullum (Chris) of Charleston, South Carolina, a son, Richard Frank Hicks, Jr., of St. Petersburg, Florida, a sister, Dorothy H. Admire, of St. Petersburg, Florida, close friend and companion, Daureen Marcotte, grandchildren, Mikell Admire, Whitnee Admire, Caroline Cullum, Clara Cullum, and nephews, John Rogers, Scott Rogers and David Admire. Richard attended schools at North Ward, Euclid, North Shore, Mirror Lake, Lealman and Tomlinson Vocational. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army after serving from 1955 to 1961 during the Korean War. He was in the Florida National Guard. He retired after twenty years of service with the RNM CB 14 unit of the Navy Seabee Reserve as a First Class Petty Officer equipment operator. He was employed by Misener Marine and The American Bridge Company and also The City of Tampa, from which he retired. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1200 Snell Isle Boulevard, St. Petersburg, FL on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Richard was a life member of the Masonic Home North Side Lodge, The Scottish Rite, The Omar Shrine Temple, The American Legion Post 14, The AmVets, Post 7147, The Disabled Veterans, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Seminole, and life member as well as Past President of The Eagle Riders, District 12 for the State of Florida and the National Rifle Association. Honorary Pallbearers who are close friends: Bob Yeager, Randy Olive, Buddy Whitehead, Robert Jones, Mike Pilver and Tom Olmes. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations to The Seminole Eagle Club 7147 at 6987 54th Avenue N., St. Petersburg, FL 33709 or Bay Pines VAHCS, Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, Ward 5C, PO Box 5005, Bay Pines, Florida 33744.
