Richard Gamble Obituary

Richard Armstrong Gamble INDIANTOWN, SC - Richard Armstrong Gamble, 97, husband of Juana Davis Gamble, of Indiantown, South Carolina, died on August 10, 2023. Born in Indiantown on May 11, 1926, he was a son of Robert Clyde and Josie Bartell Gamble. Mr. Gamble graduated from Indiantown High School. He farmed extensively and was known for conservation practices and for following closely the precepts of the Farm Home Administration. For over two decades, he was a Commissioner of the Williamsburg County Soil and Water Conservation District. He also served on the board of directors of the Anderson State Bank. Mr. Gamble was a lifelong member of the Indiantown Presbyterian Church (USA), which he served as deacon, trustee, and cemetery committee chair. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Juana Davis Gamble; their two daughters, Joyce Gamble Braxton (Kyle) and Stephanie Gamble Atkinson (Robert); their four grandchildren, Coleman Stephen Braxton, Richard Edward Gamble Atkinson, Jane Louise Gamble Atkinson, and Vaughn Gamble Braxton; and their four great-grandchildren, Celeste Quetzali Diaz Atkinson, Juliet Elizabeth Atkinson, Mateo Kaibil Diaz Atkinson, and Bianca Joy Atkinson. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Gamble, and two sisters, Carolyn Gamble Lanning and Sara Jo Gamble Freeman. A memorial service for Mr. Gamble will be held in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 19, at 3:00.
