Richard Cook Obituary

Richard Leroy Cook GOOSE CREEK - Richard Leroy Cook, 86, of Goose Creek, SC, entered into eternal rest Monday, September 11, 2023. Visitation, and the Funeral service for family and friends will be held Saturday, 23 September 2023 at 11 am at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Grave site service at Carolina Memorial Gardens for family/friends directly after. He is survived by his five kids, Cheryl Cook Hood (Bobby), Richard L. Cook Jr (Sharon), Michael Kelley Cook (Beth), Christopher Brian Cook (Dianna) and Patrick James Cook. Nine grandkids (Jennifer, Emma, Rebecca, Christopher, Ryan, Joseph, Andrew, Richard III, and William) and seven great-grandsons (Colin, Declan, Brayden, Rayne, Luke, Ross Jr, and Bennett). The ORIGINAL, Richard L. Cook (a.k.a. Pop's) left us Monday, and is in a better place. Mom was the glue that held us all together, and Dad was the provider, often working three jobs, so we could have the things we needed. A retired 1SGT in the Air Force and a Braves fan since they were the Boston Braves. He loved to brag about his five kids, nine grandkids and seven great- grandsons and was a constant FAN at their games/events. He will be missed, but he is back with Mom. We do not know how much we will miss them, but every day we know we will think of them and smile, every time. They truly loved all of their family equally, always supportive, unselfishly sacrificing, always there for us. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Richard L. and Lavenia A. Cook Football Memorial Scholarship at The Citadel Brigadier Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.
