Richard Bernard Condon CHARLESTON - Entered into eternal rest on the morning of August, 19, 2010, Richard Bernard Condon, husband of Mary Johnson Condon. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bernard Condon are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church, Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment, Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday between 5-7 p.m. Mr. Condon was born March 7, 1931, in Charleston, SC, the son of Vernon Whitaker Condon and Louise Mellard Condon. He was a graduate of the High School of Charleston and the University of South Carolina. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church. He was President of Charleston Blue Print Company, Past President of Greater Charleston Printers Association, Past President and Past Treasurer of Southeastern Reprographic Association, Past President of The International Reprographic Association, and Past President of The Executives Association of Greater Charleston. RWB Condon was a member of Pythagorean Lodge # 21, A.F.M. for 56 years. It was a family affair with his father and four brothers, Bill, Ed, Bob and Louis also being members. He traveled through the chairs, serving as Worshipful Master in 1967. He was a Past District Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of SC, Ancient Free Masons. He had been very active in the Charleston County Masonic Association, having served as president and, more recently, retired from the office of Secretary in 2009, after having served in that office for over 10 years. He was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and is a 33rd Honorary, the highest level one can reach in this order. He had consistently been an avid and active supporter of the Scottish Rite Centers for Childhood Learning Disorders, particularly the local clinic attached to the Scottish Rite Center on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. He was a member of many years of the York Rite of Freemasonry and served in many of the offices. He had been very active as a participant in the initiation of new members. He was a member of the Order of the Purple Cross, a distinction of honor in the York Rite and a member of Omar Shrine Temple. He was Past Governor, of Charles Towne College 113, an appendant body of the York Rite. He was Viceroy, The Saints John Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine, an appendant body of the York Rite. He was Past Sovereign Master, Charles Towne Council 195, Allied Masonic Degrees. And founding member of the Joel W. Frampton Jr., Council #85, Knight Masons of the USA and member of the SC Masonic Research Society. He was also a member of the Square and Level Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years; two sons: Bradley E. Condon (Amy) of Summerville, SC and Lawrence A. Condon (Lynne) of Charleston, SC; one daughter: Carol Condon Covell (Randy) of Huntsville, AL; one brother: Louis E. Condon (Marie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren: Katherine, Christine, Andrew, Austen, and Owen. He was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Lynn Condon, and three brothers, Vernon William Condon, Edward B. Condon and J. Robert Condon. Dick was a mentor, a friend, a client, a brother and a joy with whom to associate. I shall miss him and his wry sense of humor, terribly. The world's light shines less brightly without him on this side of the veil, but I'm certain it shines much more brightly on the other side with his addition to those numbers.
I trust that his Masonic brethren who have preceded him to the Celestial Lodge above have greeted him with the same kinship they knew on Earth.

Dear Mrs. Condon:

I was shocked and saddened to read of the passing of my friend Dick. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I am 68 years old and have known Dick since I was 19 though Charleston Blue Print and the old construction bidders service. I was just by the store a few weeks ago and always enjoyed talking to him about the old days and the contractors that have come and gone and we were still here slugging it out every day and still working every day. All I can say is that he was a nice guy who always treated me with a smile and friendship and encouragement. May God Bless you and your family.
