Rebecca Stockton Lindsay PENROSE, CO - Rebecca "Ruby" Stockton Lindsay, 82, of Penrose, Colorado, passed away on September 13, 2021, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born to the late Sidney L.F. Stockton and Margaret A. (Crumlin) Stockton in Belfast, Northern Ireland (United Kingdom) on September 11, 1939. She married her husband, Thomas "Tom" Lindsay, in 1960 and they lived in England, Scotland, and Wales before emigrating to the United States in 1974. They lived in Goose Creek, South Carolina for many years until relocating to Colorado in 2018. Ruby was a woman of many talents. She served in the Women's Royal Naval Service, where she met her husband, Tom, who was serving in the Royal Navy. She worked as a switchboard operator for most of her life, including at Sears in North Charleston, South Carolina. Ruby also did office work at the Londonderry School in Goose Creek, South Carolina until she retired. She was a long-time member of the Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek and a member of the Presbyterian Cursillo, where she served as moderator. Most recently, she became a member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Penrose, Colorado. Ruby loved listening to Johnny Mathis, following her children through choir and band practices and events, and really liked to sing and play the guitar herself. She also knitted, and in her later days made jewelry. Ruby always put others first, never liking attention on her. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Ruby is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Craig (Gretchen) Lindsay of Torrance, California; brother, Sidney Stockton of Westminster California; granddaughter, Kara Stewart of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey and Braelyn Grooms of Torrance, California, and Kameron Stewart of Goose Creek, South Carolina. She is also survived by four step-siblings, Emma Russell, John Stockton, Linda Stockton, and Helen Stockton, all of Canada, plus many nieces, nephews, and their families. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Penrose, Colorado. Also on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Donations may be made to either church in lieu of flowers.
