Rebecca Lee Crittenden Boyce HUNTERSVILLE, NC - Rebecca "Becky" Boyce of Huntersville, NC finished her battle with cancer at her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 29, 1951 to Thomas E. and Doris G. Crittenden. Becky graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and the University of South Carolina. She later earned her Masters Degree in Education from the College of Charleston. Becky pursued her lifelong passion for education in Charleston, South Carolina, first as an elementary school teacher and later as principal of Buist Academy. After retirement, she moved to Huntersville with her husband Douglas S. Boyce. A tireless and selfless supporter of her church, family and friends, Becky loved traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family. Becky was predeceased by her younger brother, Stephen W. Crittenden. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her parents, her daughter, Elizabeth T. Johnson (Jed) of Charlotte; grandson, Miller L. Johnson; stepson, Jason D. Boyce of Long Beach; brother, David E. Crittenden (Susan) of Cary, NC; nieces, Sarah C. (Andy) Fuller, Kathryn A. Crittenden; and nephews Matthew D. Crittenden and A. Tyler Crittenden. A celebration of Becky's life will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 19600 Zion Avenue, Cornelius, NC on Monday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation with the family will be at the church following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631.
