Raymond Clopton Obituary

Raymond Larry Clopton Eutawville, SC - Raymond Larry Clopton, 74, of Eutawville, South Carolina, died Friday, March 3, 2017. His memorial service with military honors will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in the Northwoods Chapel at J. Henry Stuhr Inc., located at 2180 Greenridge Road in North Charleston, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends Tuesday from one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Larry was born December 22, 1942 in Gastonia, North Carolina, son of the late James Clopton and the late Mazel Pope. He served 20 years in the United States Navy and was later employed with Southern Chemical Products/ Professional Carpet Sales for 23 years before working at Mescons prior to retiring in 2008. Since retiring, Larry enjoyed the lake, fishing and boating, and all the new friendships retirement on the lake brought into his life. He loved his wife, family, and friends very much and treasured all of them. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Setzer Clopton of Eutawville; son, Daniel Clopton of Goose Creek; daughter, Shelly Hoffman (Allen) of Summerville; son, Jeffrey Clopton of Summerville; granddaughters, Rai Clopton, Taylor Hoffman, Mercedes Nelms; grandson, Aaron Clopton; great-grandson, Kolt Kinard; brothers, James Clopton (Debbie) of Bridgefield, DE, and Eugene Clopton of Young Harris, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by his wife's children, Tina Russell (Stephen) of Mount Pleasant, Thomas Setzer Jr. (Sandy) of Charleston, and their children, Dane Roberts, Matthew Russell, Evan Roberts, Adam Russell, Stephen Russell, Luke Russell, Christopher Setzer, and Destiny Cantoral. Memorials may be made to Hollings Cancer Center, 86 Jonathan Lucas Street, MSC 955 Charleston, SC 29425, or the VFW Eutawville Post 10980, 448 Miracle Dr., Eutawville, SC 29048.
