Ralph Hunter Obituary

Ralph E. Hunter, Sr. HILTON HEAD - Ralph E. Hunter, Sr., 85, a thirty year resident of Hilton Head Island died Wednesday, July 4 at Life Care Center. Born in Thomaston, Ga. on July 23, 1926 he was the son of the late John H. and Madelaine Clay Hunter. He graduated from North Charleston High School. He was a veteran of The Army Air Corp. He then completed an apprenticeship with the Charleston Naval Ship Yard where he worked until he retired from the Charleston Naval Supply Center Star Team in 1983. After retiring and moving to Hilton Head Island, he continued to work another 20 years at the Adventure Inn. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Throughout his life he was an avid golfer and devoted NASCAR fan. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Charlotte Smart Hunter for almost 64 years, dearest mother of Donna and Casey; beloved Papa of Jay, Ryan, Dana, and Traci; dearest Papa of Kimbel, Charlie, and Quinn. Also survived by special loved ones, son-in-law Jack and son's fiance; Susan and sister Nita Hunter Woods. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 9 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hilton Head Island. Inurnment will be held Tuesday, July 10 at 1 pm at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.
