Ralph Edward Austing MT. PLEASANT - Ralph Edward Austing, passed away in Mt. Pleasant, SC, at 102 years old, on December 25, 2010, at the Hospice Center of Charleston. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at The Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Taylors, SC. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held later in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Ralph was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 14, 1908, son of the late Joseph Austing and Charlotte Lindemann Austing. He attended St. Xavier School. After his school years he spent most of his work life as a journeyman printer working in Cincinnati, Ocala, Florida and finished his working career with the Bureau of Printing and Engraving in Washington, DC. Over the last several years Ralph lived in Mt. Pleasant at Sweetgrass Assisted Living and at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom McCallion. Ralph was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Nancy and her husband, Tom of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren: Molly McCallion of Savannah, GA, Patrick McCallion and Sean McCallion both of Greer, SC; and six great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Ethel Reiman Austing; his brothers, Clarence Austing and Richard Austing, and a sister, Catherine Koehler.
