Rachel Edwards Obituary

Hi Gary,
This is Nancy Richardson and I was the nurse from your health insurance company. I remember having
conversations with you about Rachel and her journey. Without ever meeting her you described her bravery over so many remissions and difficult treatments. I´m sorry to find out about her passing.

Although Rachel and I never met in person, we came to be friends through social media. I will miss her spunk and lust for life. I am forever grateful she came into my life. Rest easy sweet girl!

I have been so sad since I heard about Rachel´s passing. I still remember the first day I met her. I was a new oncology fellow at MUSC and when I introduced myself she smiled and said "oh yay I get a new doctor". I remember unhooking her from fluids so we could sneak away to the fashion show fundraiser. She was truly a ray of sunshine and I am so fortunate to have known her and had the honor of being one of her doctors. May her beautiful spirit live on.

Debbie and Gary, Will always remember Rachel as one of the sweetest little girls I've ever known. I cannot even comprehend the magnitude of your family's loss. Rachel will be eternally missed and remembered by all who had the great fortune to know her.

My sincere condolences to Gary, wife Debbie and the whole family. I've literally just learned of this very sad passing of Rachel. Even though I never had the opportunity to meet Rachel, she was clearly indeed a living miracle in so many ways. Gary, since the very first time you told me about the challenges Rachel was facing all those years ago, I have always rejoiced at hearing about her zest for finding a way to live and influence the lives of so many other people. I never had a chance to even say hello to Rachel, but Gary, I hope I have an opportunity where you can share some wonderful stories about Rachel with Nicky and I when I next come over from the UK we to meet you in Charleston. Rachel was a kind and enthusiastic young lady. I partnered with Rachel and the Charleston Battery to provide opportunities to support our Charleston military. We will miss Rachel´s beautiful and sincere smile! I know those of us that love and adore her will continue to be touched by her spirit and grace!

Rachel was one of my best friends. There was absolutely nothing we couldn´t talk about and nothing we kept from one another. We could go weeks or months without talking, and then jump right back into it. During one of the lowest points in my life, she drove hundreds of miles out of her way to come spend 48 hours with me. Almost every time we talked, she told me she loved me. I could go on and on, but the point is, she was just one of the most thoughtful, courageous, talented, and hilarious people I´ve ever known, and the impact she had on my life can´t be overstated. I´ll think about her everyday and I miss her so much.

I'm still shocked and heartbroken to hear about your passing. It was a blessing knowing you. You were one of the sweetest and funniest people I've ever met, and you made me feel like I belonged when I was so far away from home. Your memory will live with me always.

Gary, I am so very saddened to read of Rachel´s passing. She was able to accomplish so much in her short lifetime and is an inspiration to all. May your fond memories give you and your family some solace in your time of grief.

Rachel was such a wonderful person! I'm so grateful that she took my sports communication class during her last semester at Clemson. She was a joy to teach, and I know she was a valued classmate and beloved friend to her fellow students. Rachel kept me posted on her post-college career in sports, and that put me in the privileged position of learning from her, too! She was so good at her job, and cared deeply for her Charleston community. I will always remember her enthusiasm for her teams, her joy in helping others, her love for her friends, her beautiful smile, and her effervescent spirit. Much love and deepest sympathies for her family, friends, and colleagues.

What an incredible loss for us all and a gain for heaven. I do not know you nor did I know Rachel, but what an inspiration she was and remains! Thank you for sharing her life in this obituary. I too am a Clemson graduate who has always loved sports. Prayers at this difficult time for you and your family, and the little one soon to arrive and join the team. God bless you all. So Sorry to hear about sweet Rachel
We meet her many times and she was always so sweet
I always enjoyed the group of friends that Blake and Mary Mac had ,Rachel was one of them that always had a Joy on her face
Her smile was contagious and she was very kind
My heart breaks for you

I met Rachel when I was a freshman and she was a junior. I remember seeing her across the black box, thinking she was the coolest person ever. I wanted to be her friend so badly. We both did the musical grease at wando, and she took me under her wing. The picture of us in front of the Christmas tree was taken while caroling with wando chorus. She told me, "we have to get a picture together!" I felt like I was on cloud 9. She would come back to visit me during college, giving me life advice and telling me stories. As we got older, our friendship became stronger. We sent each other snapchats almost every day, exchanged hundreds of ridiculous tik toks, and talked about everything. Rachel knew everything about me and never judged. She changed my life. She was the funniest person. She was, and still is, the person I strive to be. Rachel, I will never stop talking about you. It has been an honor of a lifetime to be your friend. And I will never stop loving you.

Rachel was the reason I joined Central Spirit - I looked up to her all throughout high school and we stayed close throughout my time at Clemson, and after. I remember this day when she was painted up for a home game, and she gave me my first painted dots on my face. The last home game of her senior season, I painted up, and it was FREEZING. She didn´t paint up, because it was freeeezing. She gave me her tiger headband, and told me to keep it, and said I needed it more than she did. I still wear it every winter.

I will forever cherish our time together at Clemson. She loved cheering on the Tigers but she was even better at cheering me on through each phase of life.

Rachel, I laid in bed last night next my daughter who you celebrated with me just two years ago. We both were watching your tik toks to hear your sweet voice again. I know you were first Daniel´s friend but you and I grew such a beautiful friendship! You got to be around such special times in our life and I will cherish those moments forever! Love and miss you sweet girl! Know that we will carry your memory with us forever!
