To Paula and all the Evans': I am so sad to hear of the passing of Smokey. He always made me smile. He was a good man and a friend to so many. He and my husband, Hugh, always planned to go fishing together but never made it. Hopefully they are involved in more important endeavors now, but I do hope there will be a little time for that fishing trip.

Smokey touched more hearts and lives than anyone will ever know. I have always and will always look up to him and Paula as the closest thing to a perfect marriage that can be achieved on this earth. They are always such a positive example, that has given me strength to look towards in challenging times. Smokey was there for me when I was truly in need. The world has lost a great man, but his positive impact will always shine through. I look forward to meeting him again in heaven.

The Voight family: Mama, Jamey and Linda are all saddened by Smokey's passing. Linda and I discussed Smokey's and Linda's Graded Schools and Park Circle days together as good friends. I will always see Smokey in my mind sitting at the counter in Idle Hour enjoying the wonderful food that Dolly cooked for us day in and day out!
Our love and best wishes to the Evans family as these days pass.

I first met Smokey 35 years ago when I started working for Noland Company as heating & air salesman. Overtime, we became friends, growing closer as the years passed. Being in a business situation, we had our good and sometimes trying times. But even in the worst times, Smokey would assure me that we were and always would be friends. I found Smokey to be one of the most kindhearted men that I would ever meet and he would do anything for you. I will cherish the friendship we had and miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with Paula,Larry jr.,and family.

I have just learned of Smokey's death and am very saddened by this news. Actually, today I am headed to Pickens to see my brother, Bobby, who loved Smokey and was a close friend of his for many years. They shared their love of fishing. I will always remember Smokey's big, warm smile!
My prayers are with you all that God will give you His peace as only He can give.
Love, Harriette Anne Fitts Watson
