Queenie Murdaugh Obituary

Queenie Davis Murdaugh HAMPTON, SC - Queenie Davis Murdaugh, 81, of Hampton, SC, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023. She was born November 23, 1941, in Colleton County to the late Gilbert Rawls Davis and Bessie Hickman Davis. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Franklin L. Murdaugh, Sr.; a daughter, Tamra Murdaugh Bishop (Randy) of Brunson SC; two sons, Franklin L. Murdaugh, Jr. of Summerville SC, and Neal R. Murdaugh (Shellie) of Early Branch, SC; grandchildren, Carrie Bess Bishop Benton (Robbie), Leanora Bishop, twins, John and Gilbert Murdaugh; a great-grandson, Oran Benton; sister, Dimples Zipperer (Jack) of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Daniel Davis of Allendale, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Lester, Vernon, Marshall, James and Wilbur Davis; sisters, Lucille Clark, Elizabeth Davis, Susan Weatherford and Elsie Padgett; several brothers and sisters-in-law; her husband's special aunt and uncle, Harold and Carrie Sineath; and daughter-in-law, Angela Grace Murdaugh. Mrs. Murdaugh graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1959. She was employed by Palmetto State Bank for 3 years. She was a stay at home mom until 1976 when she began working with the Hampton County Voter Registration for 25 years. She served as Registrar for 20 of those years. She served in many roles as a member of West End Baptist Church for 30 years. She was currently a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. She tirelessly gave to her loving family, always putting devotion to the Lord first. She cherished her very close friends at work and church. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. The family would like to thank Dr. Grant Lewis, Pattie Emfinger, PA, and the entire staff at Summit Cancer Care - Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion, Savannah, GA. Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial in the Sand Hill Cemetery, near Varnville. Visitation will begin at 1 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service at the Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
