PEORIA - Phyllis J. Wabel, 89, of Peoria, formerly of Lacon, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria.
Born to the late Howard and Verna Sinclair West in Henry on Sept. 15, 1926, she married Clarence Wabel in Lacon on June 22, 1946. Clarence died Aug. 16, 2002.
Phyllis was a member of the Lacon Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Phyllis was a homemaker; busy raising three daughters, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing bingo and, most of all, loved being a good mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to others.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolynn Tiraboschi and Jean (John) Lane, both of Peoria; one sister, Dixie Hilligoss of Washburn; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Keller; brother, Sonny; two sisters, Irma and Bernadine; and granddaughter, Andrea Rymer.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, with Pastor Mark McCall officiating. A visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m., prior to service. Burial will be in the Lacon Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials can be made to Illinois Cancer Care or Monroe Grade School in Bartonville in her name.
