Phyllis Armstrong Obituary

ARMSTRONG, Phyllis Phyllis Jane Hagler Warrick Armstrong died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens, GA, after fighting Inflammatory Breast Cancer for three years. She was 63. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 19, at LORD AND STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd., Bogart, GA, and at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 646 W. 5th St., Winston-Salem, NC. Phyllis Armstrong was the daughter of Alvin Hagler of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Sibbie Warrick of Maggie Valley, NC. The late Clayton Warrick of Maggie Valley, NC, was her stepfather. She was born March 2, 1945, in Troy, AL. She graduated from Forest Hills High School in West Palm Beach, FL, in 1963. In 1967, she earned a degree in medical technology from Wake Forest University and the university's Bowman Gray School of Medicine, both in Winston-Salem. Most recently, she was the laboratory manager at Piedmont Health Care in Statesville, NC. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem; PEO, an educational and philanthropic sorority; and the American Needlepoint Guild. Mrs. Armstrong also is survived by her husband, Vic Armstrong of Bishop, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dawn (Hopson) Armstrong of Mableton, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Meg (Kinsella) Armstrong of Athens, GA; and granddaughter, Grace Armstrong of Mableton, GA.
