Phillip Jackey Obituary

Col. Phillip Edward Jackey, Jr., USAF (Ret.), 88, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. He was born on July 8, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Phillip Edward Jackey, Sr. and Margaret Jackey. Phillip was a proud graduate of the University of Louisville, where he earned his bachelor's degree before serving a 30-year career in the United States Air Force as a pilot. His service reflected his love of country and his lifelong passion for flying. Phillip was a man of strength and determination, yet carried a soft and kind heart that touched everyone who knew him. He loved traveling and especially the freedom of the skies. Phillip's legacy of dedication, adventure, and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carolyn Jackey; his daughter, Tara Smith (Rick); his step children: Colleen Chapin and Cassandra Chapin; his grandchild, Erin McZee (Michael); his great grandchildren: Ian Werth and Greyson McZee; as well as his sister, Norma Bensing. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Organization, www.t2t.org
