Phillip Stephen "Poppy" Freeman Andrews, sc - Phillip Stephen "Poppy" Freeman, 71, husband of Deborah Benford Freeman, died Monday, August 17, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Freeman was born in Williamsburg Co near Andrews on March 15, 1944, a son of the late Robert Clinton Freeman and Karieth Cantley Freeman. He was a graduate of Andrews High School, where he was a member of the football team. Mr. Freeman served in the Army in Germany. He retired from CSX Railroad. He was a Southern Baptist. Mr. Freeman was an avid fisherman and loved hunting. He had a great love for Black River. Mr. Freeman was predeceased by: a sister, Dale Freeman Maring; and twin granddaughters, Olivia and Reba Alford. Surviving in addition to his wife of Andrews are: two sons, Patrick Sean Freeman (Christine) of Andrews and Johnny Alford (Iris) of Georgetown; a daughter, Mary Anne Lambert (Jonathan) of Andrews; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Heylee Alford, and Gus and Sully Lambert; three brothers, Robert W. Freeman (Judy) of Summerville, Douglas "Mickey" Freeman (Kay) of Emmett, Ark., Timothy K. Freeman of Andrews; three sisters, Gwen F. Nauert (Tex) and Norma Freeman, both of Andrews, and Linda F. Mercer of Pawleys Island; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be two o'clock Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Pine Crest Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jack Mobley. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown. Sign a guest book at www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
