Philip Snoy Obituary

I still mention Phil in my prayers every day. He was a great guy, a fellow member of the NIH Health Angels with whom I shared many wonderful memories. Ran with him many times at lunchtime in Rock Creek Park and at many road races. Really enjoyed working with him on our Running Club's newspaper and working with him at many of our annual NIH Insitute Relay events. I miss him as I'm sure do so many others who knew him. I just found out about Phil's passing from someone here at FDA. I worked with Phil years ago in the Pathobiology and Primatology Branch and my prayers and condolensces go out to Francie and the family. Phil was a very nice person and I know he is missed.

Every time Phil came into the NIH gym he would greet me with his wonderful smile (and I'll never forget when he came in with his blonde hair!). He was a wonderful man to be around, and I am deeply sorry for his passing.

I had the pleasure of meeting Phil during our IETA trainings. I am very sorry to hear about his loss. He will certainly be missed. My thoughts are with his family.

It is sad news to hear about Phil's death. I was a military pathology colleague, runner, and friend of Phil's back in the 80's. I always enjoyed being around Phil. He will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I met Phil briefly when training for the IETA program. He was pleasant and fun to be around. He will be missed. My thoughts go out to his family. RIP Phil.

We find it with great difficulty to send this message, because YOUR loss has become OUR loss. We loved Dr. Snoy. He was always so supportive of me and my goals during the 10 years I worked for him at CBER FDA. I give credit to Dr. Snoy for that time period I experienced the bulk of my professional growth. Phil was a great colleague, leader, mentor and friend. My heart and prayers goes out to his family and all that got the privilege to know him personally.

His loved of life and his warm sense of humor will never be forgotten by us at the NIH and the FDA.

Phil was a trusted and respectful colleague for those of us associated with the animal research community on the NIH campus. He was consistently a gentleman and a mentor to many of the animal science specialists with whom he was associated. His passing created a major void that will not soon be filled. We will miss his winning ways.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Phil's passing. I have fond memories of hunting and eventing beside him. Phil's wit and kindness were a gift. His family are in my thoughts and prayers.

We were devastated to learn of the loss of such an exceptional and loving individual; that was Phil. For over a quarter of a century Phil was part of our lives. He always was warm, compassionate and made time for all of us. Phil was an avid runner and an inspiration to many of us to stay fit, especially with his support of the annual NIH relay. I am a veterinary school classmate of Phil. I had not seen him since graduation, over 36 years ago. He was an excellent student and athlete in college. So sorry for your loss. I learned of the unfortunate and untimely death of your husband Phil, my friend. There are no words to describe the utter grief that I am feeling right now, and I cannot possibly imagine the shock and sorrow that has been thrust on your family as well.

My thoughts are with Phil's family and loved ones. I met Phil this year at a training in Atlanta and enjoyed having him as a colleagu.

My brother, Monday August 15th was proably the worst work day of my life, but as I prayed I understood that you ran your race and as you ran you touched many hearts in a good way (especially mine) for you were never to busy to play or give a kind word or laugh to others. I'm convinced that GOD encouraged you to run home. See you in heaven. You will be truly missed on Earth.

When you think of kindness, dynamic,thoughtful, you think of Phil Snoy, was a pleasure to have him lead me with the Insitute Relay, a pleasure to see his dedication to running, his leadership in the NIH community with our R&W events. Our love to his family, our prayers to all of his friends. He is the best.

Phil desired to assist not only Americans, but populations worldwide, and wasn't afraid to strike out on a new adventure in order to do so. He will be missed when IETA's Cohort 13 meets again in December.

I met Phil just once, earlier this spring, after he was selected to be in the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention's International Experience and Technical Assistance Program. The IETA program is tough to get into, with only eight slots for people within the Public Health Service but working outside of CDC. I was in the IETA program the previous year. Phil was excited at the opportunity to be in the program and work for CDC in a lesser-resourced country for three months. We had a terrific discussion and I told the people at CDC that they were lucky to have him. To his family and friends, please accept my condolences.

No doubt Phil was a great man, a simple and easy person to work with. It was always a pleasure to stop by at his office and be amused with his wittiness. He will be sorely missed by all of us at the CBER.

Phil always had a smile to greet you. He was a wonderful man with so many top qualities. My heart breaks for the shock it must have been for the family as it was to his many friends at CBER. You are all in our prayers. We will miss him terribly.

Phil was my veterinary school classmate and a great friend over many years through our regular connections in ACVP. I enjoyed every time we got together to share our lives progression. He had a great zest for professional, personal, and family life, a fantastic sense of humor and engaged all around him with gracious acceptance. I will greatly miss him.

I've known Phil as a member of the NIH Health's Angels Running Club, as a colleague at NIH, and as a friend for many years -- decades for that matter. We ran together many years at lunchtime in Rock Creek Park near the NIH campus; we ran numerous races together in the Maryland-Virginia-Washington DC area; we ran in 24-hour relays together at Ft. Meade; we were teammates numerous times in the annual NIH Institute Relay and won several times with Phil running anchor; we worked together with others to keep the spirit and legacy of the "Health's Angels" alive on the NIH campus, and we worked together many years with Randy Schools, Alison Wichman, and others to help manage the Institute Relay. There was no one who could manage the finish line like Phil. I loved Phil and so did everyone who met him or knew him. He was always positive and uplifting, and fun to be around. He was a talented runner, a very good vet , a super person, a good friend who always had positive things to say about others, and a genuinely nice person. Phil made a difference at NIH professionally and to so many others who were blessed to know him at NIH and beyond. I'm very saddened by Phil's passing. --- Phil , I pray that you will find peace now and that your family and many friends and colleagues will find comfort during this sad time.
