Many years ago Phil and myself were on the golf team at Armstrong. We took a trip to North Carolina to play in a golf tournament. It was late at night when we started back to Savannah. On the way back we listened to the radio. That year there was a popular song by America called A Horse With No Name. When it came to the chorus we all joined in singing it. Every time I hear that song now, it reminds me of that night. Such a sweet time we had together.

Rest in Peace my friend.

Phil was an old golf friend and alway met me with a smile and a joke. We could not see each other for a year and just continue on a conversation like it was yesterday. Phil you will be miss by more the you would have ever thought. Prayers to Judy and your family. Tell Fritz to make a tee time when you see him.

There are no words to express the sadness we feel losing Phil. He was an uncle to our son, our best friend and neighbor but mainly a chosen member of our family. We love Judy, Neal and Lauren and will be there for them forever. Play 18 in heaven as we know you´ll find the best golf course !

Phil was a friend, neighbor and all around wonderful person. He loved the game of golf. There better be a golf course in heaven. He was caring, funny, humble and loved his family. They don´t make them like Phil Gray anymore. Will miss him so much but heaven is so lucky to have him. Will see you again one day Phil.

So Sorry for your loss Judy and family! As you know, I had the honor to work with Phil and play the game he loved. We had many laughs together on the golf course in fun and competition. At work, Phil took his job very serious, but at the same time we had fun playing pranks on each other and just laughing about a bunch of things. Phil will be missed by many, but certainly not forgotten. God Bless my friend and family. RIP Buddy!

I am shattered today as I hear of my dear friend passing so suddenly. Phil was a dear gentleman and a fabulous person. We shared countless good times growing up in Savannah. And how we both love the Gamecocks!

To Judy and the family, I pray that God's infinite grace and comfort be upon you all as we mourn his loss. We will always miss his smile, his humor, and that fantastic golf game he loves so much.

Go with God, dearest friend.

Phil was a great golf personality. He played in many charity events in his younger years. One of his roofing estimator stories (he had many) was that he was afraid of heights but more afraid of being poor so if he needed to go high it always for the right reason. He was a happy soul on earth and I believe his happy spirit will soar.

I met Phil almost 20 years ago on Shadowmoss Golf Course, and over the years had the pleasure to play many rounds and events with him. He was maybe the best golfer I ever met, and an even finer person to share time and a few laughs with. He will be missed by all of us.
