Philip Griffen Clarke III SPARTANBURG - A funeral service for Philip Griffen Clarke III, 63, former resident of Isle of Palms, SC, will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew's Church, Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Clarke died December 22, 2020 in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of the late Rev. Philip G. Clarke, Jr. and Anne Gignilliat Clarke. Philip studied business at the College of Charleston and received a Masters in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of South Carolina. He practiced law in Charleston. He was an Eagle Scout. Philip was a long-time member of St. Andrew's Church, Mt. Pleasant. He was Parish and Diocesan Chancellor, one of the organizers of the Diocese of the Carolinas, and faithfully served his church in many capacities. He carried the mantle of the Lord's authority. Philip loved boating in the creeks of the low country. He is survived by his sister, Trezevant (Trez) Clarke.
