Peter McManus MT. PLEASANT - Peter Condon McManus, 58, of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 6, 2016. He was born on Saturday, July 12, 1958 in Charleston, SC to Mrs. Geraldine Condon McManus and the late Mr. Terence Michael McManus. Peter was a carpenter by trade and a craftsman by hand. He spent the duration of his career as a home builder in the East Cooper area. Pete enjoyed boating, fishing, and sailing and was also an avid outdoors man. He volunteered at the Sullivan's Island Fire Department for many years, and was a lifelong member at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church. He had a lust for life, never met a stranger and made a positive impact on many lives in his community. Peter's fondest achievement was rebuilding the beach house at Station 9 following Hurricane Hugo. His family will remember him as a loving father, husband, brother, "Poppy" and friend. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Susan Lux McManus, of Awendaw, SC; Mother, Geraldine Condon McManus, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Daughter, Clellen Lux Bowden, of Charleston, SC; two sons, Ian Michael Geddie (Erica), of Charleston, SC and Sean Patrick Geddie, of Charleston, SC; six sisters, Caroline McManus Young (Bruce), Geraldine Marie McManus, Lucy McManus Burnett (John), Jeannie McManus Langley (Furman), Mary McManus Dennis (Don), Clare Blackwell Reuther (John); four brother, Terence M. McManus (Pat), Thomas J. McManus, Joseph W. McManus (Beth), William C. McManus; six grandchildren, Wil, Haden, Maeve, Isabella, Elise and Ian Michael; and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his loving father, Terence Michael McManus; and nephew, Christopher R. Young. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Rosary to be recited at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM. A Burial at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406 and Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482.
