Mr. Mankowski -- You so inspired our English class in reading Shakespeare; those plays came alive when you spoke the words and acted the parts. I've told countless people of your marvelous teaching skills. I still remember my Lady Macbeth lines. Thank you for being my teacher.

As a former student in Mr. Mankowski's Creative Writing class at Edison, I have many fond memories. Instead of memorizing Shakespeare, we put on small plays and probably learned more about the real meaning of those stories than those in other English classes.
I continued doing some writing, and sent a small book of poems to him via my sister when he was in town to attend and speak at her class reunion. He called me that evening and we had a very nice talk. He told me about his published stories and sent copies of them to me, and of course I still have them and treasure them.
He was a fine person and indeed a most wonderful teacher.

To Marcia:
I was saddened to learn of the death of your father, and send my sympathy to you, your brother and others in the family. I did not have Mr. Mankowski as a teacher but knew that he was a special person.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Mankowski. He was not my teacher when I was a student at Edison, but the father of a good friend and a delightful man who will be missed by all who knew him. My condolences to Marcia and David and their families.
