Perry Eubank Obituary

EUBANK, Perry Col. Perry Huston Eubank (USA Ret'd) died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, February 10 in Atlantic Beach, Florida. He was the son of Clyde Gray Eubank and Mary Gano (nee Cunningham) Eubank. In 1941 he and Shirley Gardner were married in Honolulu, HI. Col. Eubank was born May 22, 1912 in Madison, MO. He graduated from Madison High School, attended Methodist Central College in Fayette, MO, and in 1937 was graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. He served as a US Army Artillery officer until his retirement in 1963. During WWII he served in North Africa, southern France and the Rhineland and was awarded the Soldiers Medal and Croix de Guerre. In 1948 he earned a MS in Aeronautical Engineering from California Institute of Technology and then specialized in anti-aircraft defense and guided missiles. He attended the US Army War College, instructed there, and afterward was assigned as Executive Officer of the 25th Infantry Division Artillery in Hawaii. Upon retirement, Perry and Shirley lived in Summerville and Sullivan's Island, SC, later moving to Atlantic Beach, FL. Col. Eubank was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley in 2002, and by three sisters and a brother: Dora Gray Markland, Sophia Nell Featherston, Mary Alice Gross and Ben Waller Eubank. He is survived by five children: Katharine E. Jordan of Malvern, PA, Perry H. Eubank, Jr. of Montreal, Canada, Dr. Daniel F. Eubank of York, ME, L. Gray Eubank of Otis, OR, and Dr. Stephen G. Eubank of Blacksburg, VA, plus ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. To his family and his good friends he has been a bright, considerate man of impeccable honesty, a good companion with a fine sense of humor, and an example of a life honorably lived.
