Peggy Almond Shiver CHARLESTON, SC - Peggy Jo Almond Shiver, 75, of Charleston passed away on December 23, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. She was born on March 25, 1938 in Lego, WV to Levi and Jennie Bell Almond. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV and from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She worked at the Post and Courier as a zone manager for the circulation department for many years and retired in 2000. After her retirement she continued working as a distributor for the Post and Courier. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edwin "Leon" Shiver; two daughters, JoLynn Shiver Dasch DeFee and Laura Jane Shiver; three grandchildren, David M. Dasch III, Wesley T. DeFee, Laura "Kylie" Dorothy; five siblings, Levi G. "Jr." Almond (Arna Mae), Donald E. Almond (Kitty), Theodore H. Almond(Betty), Michael A. Almond (Loretha) and Carol J. Almond Bailey (Richard); sisters-in-law, Marian Norris (Bill) and Betty Sue Villeponteaux; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, and eight siblings, Kathryn Almond Giletto, Margaret Almond Jenkins, John W. "Billy" Almond, Mary Almond, Richard R. "Dicky" Almond, Frederick L. "Fred" Almond, Robert L. "Jack" Almond and Gerald R. "Jerry" Almond. Peggy's Funeral Service will take place on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
