Paul Soles Obituary

Paul Ray Soles N. CHARLESTON - Paul Ray Soles, 84, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away at a local hospital on Friday July 14, 2017. He was born on October 7, 1932 to George and Mary (Norris) Soles in Dillon, South Carolina. On October 18, 1952 he married Eunice Evelyn Rowell in Conway, South Carolina. As a young man, Ray worked with his father in the farming industry. He joined the United States Army in 1953 and served his country during the Korean War Era. In 1959, Ray and his family moved to Charleston, South Carolina where he joined Carolina Vending Company. Ray was employed in the food service industry for over 40 years, retiring from Food Service, Incorporated. He was a member of Doorway Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and member of various committees. In addition to spending time with his family, Ray enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and playing the guitar and banjo. Survivors include his wife Eunice Rowell Soles; his 2 children, Stevie Ray Soles of Chadbourn, North Carolina and Peggy Soles Weatherford (Kenneth) of Holly Hill, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Kelli Spell Widener of Holly Hill, South Carolina, Stephen Ray Soles (Marla) of North Charleston, South Carolina, and Ken Weatherford of Holly Hill, South Carolina; 4 great-grandchildren, Hunter Spell, Mason Widener, Lois Widener and Eli Widener, all of Holly Hill, South Carolina; 2 sisters, Jill Soles Johnson of James Island, South Carolina and Carolyn Soles Turlich of Atlanta, Louisiana; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Soles; 4 brothers, Fred Soles, Wiley Soles, Earl Soles, and George T. Soles, Jr.; and 1 sister Ethel Soles McGee. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, North Charleston, South Carolina. Visitation will begin at 2pm with a life well celebrated service to follow at 3pm. Memorial donations may be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarriorsproject.org).
