Paul Jones
Goose Creek - Paul Eugene Jones, 93, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Born on October 3, 1932, in Dickson, Tennessee, Paul was the son of the late Lana Raines Jones and the late Clint Jones. Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt), a career that allowed him to live in many locations and travel throughout his life. He loved farming and gardening, and took great pride in growing his own vegetables and fruit, even selling some of what he grew. He enjoyed making his own wine, fishing, and spending time with family. Music was a lifelong passion. Paul played the guitar, banjo, and fiddle, enjoyed bluegrass, and loved singing. He especially enjoyed playing whenever his brother, Lonnie, and he got together. Quiet by nature, he kept to himself, yet neighbors often referred to him as the "Mayor of the Neighborhood" because he was always helping others and looking out for those around him. He especially enjoyed working on his homes and was most comfortable in his overalls, a reflection of his down-to-earth nature. Paul and Mary first met at a honky-tonk, and together they shared an extraordinary 73 years of marriage, a testament to their lifelong love and partnership. Together, they raised three children: Paul Jones Jr., James Jones, and Cheryl Wright, and found great joy in spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, Paul deeply loved his wife, Mary, and cherished the life they built together. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Laina Raines Jones and Clint Jones; his brother, James Jones; his sister, Mabel Jones; his sons, Paul Jones Jr. and James Jones; and his daughter, Cheryl Wright. Paul is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Jones; his sister, Myrtle Brown; and his brother, Lonnie Jones (Rita); his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Jones; his grandchildren: Amy Hill (Marcus), James Jones, Jr. (Molly), and Timothy McNeil; and his great-grandchildrenen: Marisol and Evelyn Hill, and Hunter and Barrett Jones. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek, SC. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately following at Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina.
