Paul Hirshmann Obituary

Paul Michael Hirshmann AIKEN, SC - Paul Michael Hirschmann, 65, joined his Heavenly Father on June, 6, 2022 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. He selflessly donated his body to science in the hope of preventing others from suffering. Paul was born on June 3, 1957 in Santa Ana, California, minutes after his twin sister, Betty. As a little boy, Paul moved with his family to Beaufort, SC, where he grew up as part of a large Roman Catholic USMC family. He graduated from Beaufort High School in 1975. He worked for US Airways for many years until his retirement, then joined Lowe's Foods. Work took him many places over the years, but his two biggest home bases were Hilton Head Island and Leland, NC. He was very committed to his work and found great enjoyment in working with others and serving all he came in contact with. He was also an overcomer in many aspects of his life, and showed his strength in his continuous efforts to be the best version of himself. His genuine kindness and acceptance of others was a remarkable quality of Paul's that will always be remembered and appreciated. Paul was predeceased by his father, Harold Hirschmann. He is survived by his mother, Anne Hirschmann of Lady's Island, and all seven of his siblings: Peggy All of Aiken, Harold Jr. (Sandy) of Isle of Palms, Betty Ray of Beaufort, Theresa Rossi (Michael) of Beaufort, Arthur Hirschmann (June) of Jonesville, Geoffrey Hirschmann (Betsy) of Little River, and Mary Williams (Todd) of Folly Beach. He is also survived by a large number of nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews, with whom he enjoyed many meaningful relationships. Paul was a much loved son, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be missed dearly by everyone who loved him. A funeral Mass in his honor will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. Peter's Church on Lady's Island in Beaufort. A reception will be held after the Mass in the Church Hall.
